Could be Better

I bought a box of 'grow your own chillis'.

There were two pots inside - one to put the soil in and one to put over the top as a propagator.

But they were stuck inside each other for ages and I couldn't pry them apart.

In the end it was DH who managed to work the rim of the bigger pot back. Though only after I'd contacted them on Facebook. They were so patient with me, and on a Sunday as well! I would have waited until Monday if I'd realised they would be monitoring today. I'll have to get them planted tomorrow.

And I finished that blanket. The proportions are all wrong.

I will probably donate, after logging the info in the Knitting Journal that DH got me. Hopefully I'll get better next time.

Otherwise it's been a quiet day. I hope that I'll have something more exciting tomorrow.

Hugs and good health to all.

  1. I hope your chili plants grow well. I really like the colors on that blanket. I'm sure someone would love to receive a blanket like that. :)

    1. It's a nice light weight but quite warm - good for a cool evening.

Fingers crossed for the chilli plants.

  2. I used to knot the children's jumpers when they were snall - until they got to the age when they turned their noses up at "home-made". I have only knitted the odd thing since then but recently, being more and more housebound with ill-health, I decided to knit a few small things - hats, mittens etc. However, it seems that I end up knitting each item several times as I can't seem to knt with a consistent tension, or I don't like the yarn, or the pattern, or it just goes wrong. My latest attempt is "split-mittens" (the sort where the top flips back to leave your fingers free). I completed the first one but think I chose the wrong yarn, plus made a few mistakes and had to bodge it a bit, so was going to abandon the whole thing, but last night I did cast on to start the second mitten, so who knows? Maybe I will actually have a pair at the end of it, although one will hopefully be without the bodged bits.

    1. My take on knitting is that it's about the journey. I don't usually bother too much, apart from when I'm trying to sell a blanket, I just enjoy the relaxing feeling of knitting, especially something straightforward. There's a reason I have a lot of 'cast on some stitches, knit until I run out of yarn, cast off' blankets and throws. I bet the mittens end up looking gorgeous.

  3. We grow chillies - at least, Barry does. They're so rewarding and can go outside in the summer for their summer holidays.

    1. I'm hoping that these will work. DH pickles his own chillies and this would make it a lot more cost effective.

  4. Really pretty colours in the blanket. I hope you can grow them. I have terrible luck trying to grow anything. I either don't water enough or water too much or forget about them altogether!

    1. I'm hoping that the self watering pots will help this time as I fail at growing things.

The blanket is lovely and cheerful. It came from a pack of yarn that was those mixed colours and labelled 'brights'. I thought it was a good description.

    2. I'd keep that gorgeous blanket and sit in my garden with it wrapped around my shoulders. It's so cheerful that it would brighten any grey morning
