It's All Fuchsia

Sharon - thank you! I'm pretty sure that it's not serious as if it was, they wouldn't have done it this way. I could do without this, though. As for the bathroom - they promised it would take one week!

There is very little happening at the moment. I am mainly in a puddle due to the heat. Even the spider plants are looking seedy. The fuchsia, however, seems to be thriving. It's the only energetic thing in my life at the moment and while I was waiting for the Amazon delivery (air purifier), I snapped this. The dratted thing is bigger than the bathroom!

It really needs to be cut back, but it's feeding so many bees that I'm hesitating. If the last few years are a guide, it will keep flowering until the first frost. You can see all the buds waiting to pop. The current weather and hosepipe ban can't be good for flowers, so I'm reluctant to get rid of any, at least in the short term.

I can't see many berries. I don't know if they have dropped due to heat stress or whether the sparrows got in. To be honest, I'm a bit worried about the sparrow squadron. I haven't heard any birdsong for ages. I've put water out and topped up the feeders, but I'm quite worried. This sort of weather must put them under stress.

We should get some thunder storms in the next few days. I can't wait.

Hugs and good health to all.

  1. Oh, I just love your fuchsia plant! Looks like it's hugging the yellow rose! I'd leave it as it is until fall. But, that's just me. :)
I'm glad you've been told your bathroom will be ready in a week.

  2. Oh wow, that fuchsia is stunning. I bet it's a joy to walk past. Funny that you mention a lack of birdsong. I noticed that too the other day. Bring on the rain... but not enough to cause problems.
