A Close Shave

Shopping is getting out of hand. It is a regular theme that comes up here. Every now and then I cut back, and I do quite well, but then I have a little moment and anything could turn up. I have been feeling a little low, with the tooth and other stuff, and for some reason thought it was a good idea to bid on a bundle of tablecloths. There had been no bids, the starting bid was 99p, and I was caught up by the bargain. There were 105 tablecloths! What did I think I could do with 105 tablecloths? I have a dining table, a kitchen table and some desks. I cannot imagine what I would do with 105 tablecloths.

Bear asked the sensible question. He asked who on earth would have 105 tablecloths, and I told him it would be me unless someone outbid me. There was less than a day to go on the listing, and I felt the tension all the way through until it finished.

Fortunately I was outbid. I have never been so relieved! As it was, it didn't look like it reached the reserve as it was relisted with a start price of £60, which seems a little more reasonable for 105 tablecloths.

I have bought a bundle of dozens of neckties in the past, and the consignment of handbags was another cracker, but hopefully this will be the shock to the system I need and I can have a spell of shopping a little more rationally.

Hugs and good health to all.

  1. You always make me chuckle, thank you for sharing.
I won a bundle of large bundle of Sirdar chunky wool. I can't knit.

Well, I couldn't. I had to learn (to cast on, to do knot and purl and to cast off). I'm on my second infinity scarf now. I still have a large bundle of wool.

  2. That sounds like me. Sigh. I seem to stress shop. For me it's crafty stuff and books. I was doing really well, but I've had an epic fail this last month on paper pads. What am I going to do with all that pretty paper? I have decided to try again in May.
